SeNIA

SInce the start of 2009 I have been involved in taking NIA to seniors. I have had the privilege of additional NIA training in specialist ADAPTED and SEATED Energy Moves NIA for those people with restricted mobility who want to move their bodies gently and have some fun!

Nia has been successfully piloted in Yorkshire as part of the
"Fit as a Fiddle" programme, and I am looking to expand this area of NIA to other over 60's or restricted mobility groups in the local community, so if that's something you're intersted in please do contact me.

I offer a half hour taster session for free!

NIA exercise specialist Rachel Thompson has brought such joy and vitality to my residents here at Wellcross Grange.  Rachel’s gentle persona and expertise are second to none, she has been genius in adapting NIA to a client group with limited mobility and has given them the joy of dance, movement and laughter, all at the same time. I would recommend Rachel and NIA to anyone or any client group that wishes to expand their horizons and flex muscles otherwise unknown!

Age Concern and Nia have been working in partnership in the Yorkshire region through Age Concern’s Fit as a Fiddle project. The aim of Fit as a Fiddle is to improve the physical and mental well being of older people through physical exercise and healthy eating.

When we heard about Nia we thought their programme and philosophy closely matched ours. Nia is an ideal physical activity for older people of all abilities because they can put as little or as much into the movements as they are capable.

Nia have run a successful, well attended project for us in Leeds and will be starting another in the New Year in Sheffield. It provides a safe environment for older people to get out and mix therefore helping to prevent social isolation.

We’ve had some fantastic photos from the sessions Nia have run for Fit as a Fiddle. It looks like all the attendees were really enjoying themselves while doing some exercise!
